What the consultation is
We asked community councils in Renfrewshire, and anyone interested, to provide feedback on the draft Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils.
Why we’re consulting
We were reviewing our Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils.
A community council is a group of local people who volunteer to help improve the area they live in and the public services they use.
The Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils describes:
- how community councils in Renfrewshire are formed
- the conditions under which community councils operate
- the minimum standards that must be met for recognition as a community council.
Consultation outcome
We'd like to thank everyone who provided feedback on the consultation.
The final report on the Review of the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils was considered at a meeting held on 26 June 2025.
The revised Scheme failed to achieve the two thirds majority required to be approved.
The existing Scheme will continue until the next scheduled review in 2030.
