Renfrew High School closure

Dear parent or carer

I am writing with an update on the situation at Renfrew High School.

Gas engineers from Scottish Gas Networks and from the council’s Building Services have now completed all checks.

They have confirmed there is not a gas leak in the school and the building is safe.

They have said there was a smell of gas in the building and that school staff were correct to take the actions they did to protect pupils and staff from any risk.

The school building is now safe to enter and the school will reopen again as normal on Monday.

If any pupils still have belongings in the building which they need to collect before the weekend, staff will still be on site until 4pm today (Friday 5 Dec) to allow them to do this.

The school will be in touch with rearranged dates for the prelim exams which were due for today.

Mr Sutherland has also written a message for parents and carers, which you can read on the school's website.

Our thanks go to all pupils, staff and parents for your understanding and we look forward to the school getting back to normal on Monday.

Kind regards

Gerard McLaughlin
